YAY!!!

Posted: July 22, 2011 in Uncategorized

So, I found out that I wasn’t falling short on drinking water.

I’ve been using this one particular glass for drinking water because I thought it was 8 ounces. You know, making it easy to track how much I’ve been drinking.

Turns out it is 16 ounces, so, YAY, I’ve actually been drinking WAY more than my 64 ounces a day.

Before you ask, it was really oddly shaped glass and it really looked like it was an 8 ounce glass.

So, I’m looking at my bonus goals and deciding what will replace that goal.

I’m thinking it will be either the 20 minute clean up or the 15 minutes of Me time everyday.

I’ll let y’all know which it is tomorrow or the next day, whichever day I actually get on here and update again.

Also, Bonus Goals

I forgot to mention the Bonus Goals in the last post.
See I originally had 10 goals listed, but, really, with as busy as I am and as hectic as my life is, I really figured I needed to pare it down to 5. So, the remaining goals are bonus goals, ones that get a little less of a focus or are so closely tied to the main 5 that they could almost be combined.

So, here are the Bonus Goals:

  1. 30 minutes on the treadmill 5x a week, could almost be combined with Biking, walking or skating with my guys, but I wanted an extra something for fitness
  2. 15 minutes of “Me” time everyday. No Seth, no Phillip, no dogs, no phone, nothing, for 15 minutes everyday
  3. 2-3 servings of fruit everyday
  4. 3-4 servings of veggies everyday I do pretty good with both of these already, but I still fall short. Packing meals and snacks for work will help a lot with these two.
  5. 20 minute clean up everyday. Seth and I are really bad about this. Our place isn’t dirty, but it does get cluttered really fast. If I take 20 min everyday it should help with the clutter.

So there you have it, the Bonus Goals. They are on the index cards too. My focus is on the 1st fave in the previous post and these are the extra icing on the cake.

Have you ever noticed how easy it is to get discouraged when things don’t go quite the way you had hoped?
Well, I’m thinking a big part of me falling off the wagon is I’m just looking at the big picture, the finished puzzle.

I’ve got nothing really going on, except some token rewards, for the little milestones. Yes losing a pound here or a pound there is great, but, when I look and see that I still have so many pounds left to go, it’s so easy to let that overshadow my progress.

I’ve decided, with the help of The Spark (more on this in a bit), to set small two week long goals that have to help with the big picture.

Two weeks is an easy number, the goals are simple.

I was going for 10 goals, but am changing that now to 5.

Here they are:

  1. 8 Cups of water a day. I was doing much better with this one when it was winter up here and ridiculously dry. 2 glasses with each meal and with each snack totaling 8
  2. Pack Breakfast (if I don’t get a chance to eat at home), lunch and two snacks everyday. It’s simple, if I didn’t pack it, I don’t eat it
  3. 10 minutes of exercise everyday
  4. Walk, bike, skate with my guys at least 4 times a week
  5. Ask “Why am I eating this” before it goes in my mouth. If I’m not actually hungry, I put it down.
  6. Join our local TOPS group. If you are unfamiliar with TOPS, here is their website. Check them out. TOPS

I know I said 5, but that last one is kind of a one time thing. I go, I join, I meet up with the group once a week.

So, for the the next two weeks I will strive for these goals. I have them written down on index cards and stuck everywhere, on the dash of my car, on the mirror at home, in my wallet, it’s even the wall paper to my phone.

In two weeks, I’ll see where I’m at and pick the next few goals.

So, This Kinda Sucks…

I’ve noticed that when I step on a scale outside of my house that I weigh more.
Keep in mind that I’m not talking about at a doctors office, just at friend’s or family’s houses.

So, I’ going to get a free weight from our set and just put one on the scale when I get home to see if it’s accurate.

I’m really hoping that my scale isn’t off….it would SUCK to find out that I’m heavier than I thought…..plus it would add that much more weight that I need to lose.

We’ll see, here’s to hopin’

UPDATE!!!!

Posted: July 7, 2011 in Uncategorized

Well, not much of an update.
I haven’t been tracking my calories, but since my new goal is 1200-1550 and my previous goal was 1700 and I was hitting around 1600 a day, I’m felling pretty good about everything.

I haven’t been working out much and as a result I’ve been in limbo and not really losing any weight. I haven’t gained any weight either, so it’s kind of a draw. I was okay with draws, but now I’m looking at them as a fail.

I’m tweaking my plan a little.

  • I’m going to set up a weekly meal plan and stick to it. If it’s not on the piece of paper, I don’t get to eat it.
  • I’m keeping my “free day”, only I think I’m going to have it be open. I can pick any day of the week, not just leave it to Sunday.
  • I’m limiting my drinks, I think I’m losing a lot of calories there and not drinking enough water because of my drink choices.
    • I get one 8oz glass of skim milk a day
    • I get one 8oz glass of any other calorie laden drink a day
  • I will drink 1 cup of water berfore/during and after each meal (total of 6/day)
  • I will drink 1 cup of water with each mid day snack (total of 2/day)
    • I AM GETTING MY SORRY ASS OUT OF BED AN HOUR EARLIER TO WORK OUT.
    • From now on, if I don’t follow my workout plan I lose whatever good and yummy thing that I’ve worked into my meal plan. (actually, that’s not a good threat, half the time I don’t eat my “treat” anyway. I’ll find something that’s a real threat)
    • I will work in 3 servings of fruit and 4 servings of veggies EVERYDAY
    • Join the local TOPS group. For those that don’t know what TOPS is go here: TOPS.

So, this is my new plan. I gotta do something here. I’m also setting a new time limit. I’m visiting my folks in a month and will be be 20 pounds lighter and working out at least 4 out of 7 days a week by the time I step on that plane to Chicago.

FYI: I’ve edited this damn post, like, 6 times now!
